Siirt Co-Mayor Sofya Alağaş sentenced to 6 years and 3 months

	AMED - Sêrt Co-Mayor Sofya Alağaş was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison.

	The 7th hearing of the lawsuit filed against Sêrt (Siirt) Co-Mayor Sofya Alağaş due to "being a terrorist organization member" while she was working as a journalist was held. Sofya Alağai did not attend the hearing held at Diyarbakır 5th Assize Court, while her lawyers Resul Tamur and Pirozhan Karali Güler were present. On the other hand, Sêrt Municipality council members, Sêrt district and town co-mayors, Mezopotamya Women Journalists Association (MKG), Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Sert and Amed (Diyarbakır) provincial and district organizations, Amed Bar Association, Sêrt Bar Association Chair Muhammet Alptekin, German Embassy, DEM Party MPs also attended the hearing as audience.

	 

	Before the hearing, police presence in front of the courthouse drew attention.
