'Hope and Freedom' rally to be held on 25 January

AMED – The Democratic Institutions Platform has announced that the “Hope and Freedom” rally, demanding the release of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, will be held on 25 January. 

The Democratic Institutions Platform held a press conference at the ÇandAmed Congree Center regarding the “Hope and Freedom” rally, which had been postponed due to weather conditions, to demand the physical freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. 
 
Speaking at the meeting, which was attended by members of the Platform and many others, Abbas Şahin, Co-chair of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Amed (Diyarbakır) said: “The work presented at the 4 January rally was actully the demand of the people; that Mr Öcalan be granted his physical freedom as soon as possible. Our efforts to secure the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan will continue. We will hold our ‘Hope and Freedom’ rally, which was postponed on 25 January. We invite all our people to attend.”
 
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
 
Ruçem Vefa Elyakut, Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) in Amed, stated that they would work day and night to ensure the rally was a success. She said: "We will continue our work with morale and motivation for the rally we will hold at 13:00 on 25 January for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. We will work with our institutions and our people to ensure the rally is a strong one."
