Prof. Adrian Johnston supports the Peace and Democratic Society Process

AMED - American Professor Adrian Johnston in his support message for the Peace and Democratic Society Process, stated: " I enthusiastically and unconditionally support the Kurdish-Turkish peace process.”

Support continues to pour in from around the world for the Call for Peace and a Democratic Society made by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February. American Professor Adrian Johnston, who sent a message to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) regarding the Peace and Democratic Society Process, said that the ongoing process is a beacon of hope.

The message sent by American Professor Adrian Johnston reads as follows: "In a world where so many destructive conflicts seem permanently entrenched, the promise of lasting peace between the Turkish and Kurdish people is a precious beacon of hope for humanity as a whole.  The prospect of the amicable coexistence of these two communities, after so many decades of bitter animosity and bloody hostilities, should be a source of joy and inspiration for the entire world.

The Turks and the Kurds have an invaluable chance to show all of us the way forward by laying to rest pointlessly destructive and self-destructive identitarian feuds.   In so doing, ways can be cleared towards new forms of democratic solidarity focused on the fights that really matter today against nationalisms, imperialism, and neo-fascism.

I enthusiastically and unconditionally support the Kurdish-Turkish peace process.  In a geo-political status quo sadly shaped by so much resentment and retribution, forgiveness and reconciliation in Turkey will illuminate a desperately-needed path out of our collective darkness."
