DİYARBAKIR - Report on the torture suffered by Kurdish women's movement activist Rojbin Çetin by police officers while in custody.

Rojbin Çetin, a member of Kurdish Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad, TJA), who was detained during the political genocide operations in Diyarbakır, was subjected to attacks with dogs and torture.

The Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Diyarbakır Branch published the report it prepared on the torture suffered by Çetin.

HDP Amed MP Remziye Tosun, Rosa Women's Association, MED TUHAD-FED, TJA, Diyarbakır Bar Association Women's Rights Center, IHD Diyarbakır Branch executives and many lawyers joined the press statement.

Stating that the repression on Çetin's house lasted more than 3 hours, ÖHD executive Seda Zengin said: “The 2 dogs belonging to the special operation unit attacked Çetin and torture began. Çetin suffered severe injuries on her legs on many parts of the body as a result of the dog attack. Again, the police stepped on the victim's back with their feet. She still has the marks of the boots on her back. Also, as seen in the photos reflected in the press, she was hit in the eyes and her lip was swollen. Although Sevil Çetin told the law enforcement that she had cancer, they continued with the repression.”

Zengin said that an application to the prosecutor's office has been issued about photographs of Çetin half-naked and claims of her being sexually harassed.

Zengin stressed that an effective investigation was not carried out against the state officials who tortured Çetin, and that a policy of impunity continues in torture cases.
