Journalist Akın is acquitted

İSTANBUL - Having his 3rd hearing today, journalist Doğan Akın, founder and editor-in-chief of T24, has been acquitted of "Helping the organization willingly, although not being a member". 

 
Founder and editor-in-chief of T24 Doğan Akın was on the 3rd hearing of the trial on the charges of "Helping the organization willingly, although not being a member" due to the news reported by T24 based on the Twitter post of Fuat Avni. 
 
Doğan Akın and his lawyers attended the hearing at the Istanbul 25th Heavy Penal Court. Journalist Murat Sabuncu and Erol Önderoğlu was present at court for support, but the journalists and the supporters were not taken into the courtroom due to coronavirus measures.
 
The court ruled that journalist Doğan Akın shall be acquitted, because the elements of the crime charged on Akın were not formed and the action he was charged was not defined as a crime in the law.
