Detained politicians brought to Ankara Courthouse

ANKARA - HDP politicians detained within the scope of the "Kobanê investigation" were brought to the Ankara Courthouse. Lawyers are not allowed to meet with their clients.

 
Politicians, including members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), who were detained within the scope of the "Kobanê investigation" conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were brought to the Ankara Courthouse. Politicians whose detention period was extended by the prosecutor's office will be brought before 3rd Criminal Court of Peace.
 
20 politicians, including Kars Municipality Co-mayor Ayhan Bilgen, İmralı Delegation Member Sırrı Süreyya Önder, BDP former Co-Chair Emine Ayna, HDP new term Central Executive Board member Alp Altınörs, former deputy Ayla Akat Ata and Altan Tan were brought to the courthouse under heavy security measures. All floors of the court house is full of police offivers while the vicinity of the courhouse is blockaded by the police.
 
It was stated that the lawyers of the politicians, who were held in front of the Ankara 3rd Criminal Court of Peace to receive their defense statements, will not be allowed to attend the hearing. After being told that they would be contacted one by one first, lawyers were not allowed to meet with their clients on the grounds of pandemic by the decision of the judge. While the police frequently warned of physical distance, it was noteworthy that the politicians in custody were seated side by side and physical distance measures were not taken.
 
On the other hand, HDP deputies Ayşe Sürücü and Murat Çepni were also prevented from meeting with politicians at the courthouse.
 
The detained politicians will be taken back to the Ankara Security Directorate after their detention period is extended.
 
The names of the detained politicians are as follows: HDP Kars Municipality Co-chair Ayhan Bilgen, HDP FMC member Alp Altınörs, HDP Foreign Relations Commission member Nazmi Gür, former deputy Ayla Akat Aka, HDP former Diyarbakır MP Altan Tan, BDP former co-chair and deputy Emine Ayna, İmralı Delegation member Sırrı Süreyya Önder, HDP former MYK members Bircan Yorulmaz, Gülfer Akkaya, Berfin Özgü Köse, Dilek Yağ, Can Memiş, Günay Kubilay, Bülent Parmaksız, Pervin Oduncu, İsmail Şengün and Cihan Erdal, former HDP General Treasurer Zeki Çelik, HDP RTÜK member Ali Ürküt and Prof. Dr. Emine Beyza Üstün.
