28-year-old İrfan Bağatur, who lives in the Kurucan (Qurcen) District of Van's Saray district, was shot in his right leg on October 12, when Iranian soldiers opened fire at the border. The treatment of Bağatur, who was taken to Van Yüzüncü Yıl Dursun Odabaşı Medical Center Hospital, continues. Father Kemal Bağatur stated that his son is not in a life-threatening condition.

 

'THOSE WHO RUN FOR HELP WERE SHOT TOO'

 

Noting that his son was looking for his lost animals at the border, told that Iranian soldiers tarted firing with no reason. Stating that villagers are grazing their animals there all the time, Bağatur said two of their animals went missing that day and that his son was looking for them. Underlining taht the soldiers started shooting without warning, father Bağatur said: "My son was shot from his leg and fell down. He hid behind a rock. He called the village with his cell phone and asked for help. Iranian soldiers kept waiting there. We sent two people on horses to help my son. Both were shot at by the Iranian soldiers."

 

Stating that the Iranian soldiers waiting at the border did not let him take his son, Bağatur said he called the border police station and asked for help. Bağatur said: "Then some soldiers came and with a few people from our village they took my son but the ambulance never came. We took him to the hospital with the headman's car."

 

'NO ONE OBEYS THE LAW AT THE BORDER'

 

Stating that his son will be operated in 10 days, Bağatur said that the border lines have turned into a death trap. Emphasizing that what's going on at the border is out of control, Bağatur said neither Iran nor Turkey obeys the laws at the border.
