İSTANBUL - Stating that the whole society, especially the women and the youth are placed under isolation in the person of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, youth organizations called out and said the struggle must be strengthened in order to break the isolation.

The ongoing isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, being held in İmralı Type F Hifh Security Prison continues. Öcalan  had a meeting with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on 2 March due to the fire that broke out in İmralı. After this meeting, on April 27, Öcalan was able to use his phone right after 21 years. After this phone call, there was no meeting or communication with Öcalan. On September 23, Öcalan and Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım were banned from being visited by their lawyers for 6 months on grounds of the 156 page 'Road map' he presented to European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Right after the lawyer restriction, a phone call restriction of 6 months were handed to Öcalan and the other 3 prisoners.

Stating that isolation is a humanitarian problem and a crime, youth organizations pointed out that the struggle should be amplified in order to break the isolation.

ISOLATION IS DEEPENING

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly Member Sinan Öztürk stated that the absolute isolation imposed upon Öcalan is getting deeper day by day, and that the 6-month lawyer visitation ban on September 23 is an indication of this.

"WE SPEEDED UP OUR WORK"

Giving information about the "Take Action" campaign they launched, Öztürk stated that they limited their campaigns to 3 months, but they decided to extend this campaign for another 6 months as a result of the new restrictions. Stating that their campaign focuses on breaking the effects of the special war tactics, Öztürk said: "We have accelerated our efforts to break the isolation conditions imposed on the peoples with the special war tactics like exposing the youth to drugs, prostitution or being forced to work as a double agent for the state.Within the scope of the campaign, we held panels on 'isolation' in many cities and the public interest in these activities was intense. Now we want to be in a position that reflects the process and our claim is strong in this regard."

Bekir Açar, a member of the Revolutionary Forces of Youth (DEV-GÜÇ), who said that with the end of the solution process AKP increased the pressure on the opposition, said the youth must fight against isolation. Açar said: "This united ground for struggle must not only be in terms of action but also in terms of ideas. The more we can strengthen the united struggle, the closer we will be to victory."
