DİYARBAKIR - Jin News editor and writer Roza Metina, who was detained within the scope of the DTK investigation and released on the condition of judicial control, was asked whether she was a member of the Kurdish Writers Association, which was closed by a decree.

Jin News Kurdish news editor and Kurdish Pen Member Roza Metina, who was detained within the scope of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and released on the condition of judicial control, spoke about the detention and the operation.

'THEY WERE BRUTAL'

Metina who told that the police arrived at her apartment at 07.30 in the morning, said: "They asked me what I did for a living, I told them I was a journalist and a writer. They were brutal and shouting that we have to follow the social distance measures. They are imposing curfews and implement rules for the outbreak, yet they detain dozens of people at once and put them in prisons. There is something wrong with their policy. They put us in tiny holding cells in groups of four and told us to keep the distance. Then why are you taking this much people into custody?"

'KURDISH INSTITUTIONS ARE MARGINLEGALIZED'

Stating that the questions asked by the police were about the DTK, Metina said: "They asked whether we were involved in the DTK activities. With these questions, the DTK was marginalized. One of these fields is the literature field. They asked me about the Kurdish Writers Association which was closed down with a law decree. They asked if we were a member or participated in any of its activities and what kind of work was being done. This essentially means that the Kurdish institutions were being marginalized. They told us the jineology journal was banned and therefore having them was a crime, which means they are targeting women's associations too."

'THEY INSULTED US'

Stating that the approach of the medical teams were also brutal, Metina said: "Most of the time, psychological pressure is more effective than battery. Their approach shows clearly what is on their minds. We had to bang on the doors for our friends who had health issues. They insulted us. We told them there was a 80 year old women with us and she could not stay here and she couldn't breathe. They held her in the cell for 4 days and one day she collapsed."

'WOMEN AND KURDS ARE TARGETED'

Metina said, "By detaining the human's rights attorneys they showed that they were targeting human's rights. By detaining journalists, they showed how unfortable they are with people being told the truth, by detaining women, they showed how threatened they are by the women's movement."

'WE CAN NEVER GIVE UP'

Metina added: ""As a journalist, I am against the monist system, the oppression, annihilation of the Kurdish people and I will never submit to their oppression. This operation is the continuation of their policy against the Kurdish. We can never give up, we must never give up our struggle."
