DİYARBAKIR - Protesting the arrest of DTk Co-Chair Leyla Güven, ÖHD told that the judiciary is no longer a decision maker but a notifier.

The Headquarters of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) made a written statement regarding the arrest of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven. In the statement, it was pointed out that Leyla Güven's lawyers were denied the right to defend her in trial and it was emphasized that the legal decisions turned into a threat and punishment tool for fundamental rights and freedoms rather than being legal.

'DTK IS BEING CRIMINALIZED'

In the statement, which stated that DTK has been the roof of the search for a peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish issue until today, it was said: “DTK has been a platform where the solution proposals of the state officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals regarding this issue are discussed. However, at this point, an institution that carries out all its activities openly is tried to be criminalized by the state. And what is worse, the judicial authorities are participating in this effort. However, despite all these pressures, DTK continued to work ”.

'WE WILL BE SHOULDER TO SHOULDER FOR THE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM'

In the statement, it was stated that the Kurdish freedom struggle and the free women's struggle were targeted in the person of Leyla Güven, and it was said, "As the ÖHD Lawyers, we declare that we will always stand by the Kurdish women and the Kurdish people in their struggle for freedom against the political genocide operations."
