DİYARBAKIR - Underlining that the Kurds have to learn from history and establish national unity, TJA Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan said: "The unity of the Kurds is their freedom. Every Kurdish person has to know that the Kurdish women are confident that they will establish national unity."

The military and political decisions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) took with Turkey have caused reactions among the Kurdish. The embargo imposed by the KDP in Maxmur, the establishment of new checkpoints by shifting special powers to Garê and Metina regions, especially Zinî Wertê, and the Shengal Agreement it signed with the Iraqi Government were considered to be a threat to the national unity by the Kurds.

Speaking to our agency, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) Term Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan stated that the union to be established will be the freedom of the Kurds.

'THERE ARE LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM HISTORY'

Gökkan stated that the Kurds have maintained their existence since the history through dynasty, canton and federation forms, and emphasized that lessons should be learned from history. Saying that the ruling states used Kurdish forces against each other to prevent unity after dividing the Kurds into four parts in the Middle East, Gökkan said, “Although the riots have been suppressed in all parts of Kurdistan for a century, the Kurdish people did not give up their freedom. There have been 28 riots so far, 1.5 million Kurds have been massacred, but they have not given up on resistance. The Republic of Mahabad has not survived in history, but it has been an experience. For Kurds, if these experiences are not taken into account, Kurdistan would have been devided into 8 not 4, maybe even 16."

'WE SHOULD READ THAT MESSAGE CAREFULLY'

Pointing out that a women's revolution was carried out in North East Syria under the leadership of the Kurds, but this revolution was under attack, Gökkan emphasized that the Kurdish forces and women's struggle against ISIS gave the message of "unity" to the Kurdish forces who could not come together.

ÖCALAN'S CALL

Gökkan added that all Kurdish institutions and organizations in the region started their efforts to establish unity with the call of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is being held under aggravated isolation in İmralı Island, and that as the women they embraced Öcalan's call and said: "As women, we have never withheld our support."

Warning that the Kurdish people will face greater dangers, Gökkan said: "We know that difficult days are ahead. We will be exposed to more killings and massacres if we do not unite. Kurdistan will suffer even more. As the TJA, we are making a call, let's establish the national unity of the Kurds. The unity of the Kurds, is the liberation of the Kurds. As the Kurdish women, we act with this mission at all times. All Kurds should hear that the Kurdish women are confident that they will establish the national unity."
