ŞIRNAK - 48 HPG and YPS members who lost their lives have been buried in two different cemeteries in Şırnak without being identified.

 

The bodies of HPG and YPS members who lost their lives in clashes during the curfews imposed between 2015 and 2016 in the city center of Şırnak and the districts of Cizre and Silopi, have been buried in two different cemeteries in Şırnak without being identified. 

 

There are 48 bodies buried in these two cemeteries. 36 of them are in the cemetery in Şırnak and 12 of the bodies are buried in Cizre.

 

The bodies that were stated to be PKK members were buried carelessly and without a proper funeral ceremony. The place where the bodies are buried looks like a mass grave.

 

A local in the neighborhood who did not want to disclose their name told that the bodies are usually buried in the darkness of the night.

 

According to the reports prepared by human rights organizations during the curfew that was imposed between 14 December 2015 and 2 March 2016 in Cizre and lasted for 79 days; 288 people lost their lives, 177 of whom were killed in the basements of three different buildings. 

 

Families were able to claim the bodies of their loved ones after DNA tests that took months. The bodies of 12 people who died at the time are still at Yafes Cemetery, unidentified.
