URFA - Bülent Duran, one of the attorneys of the Şenyaşar family, who shared important information about the Şenyaşar case, told that it is visibale in the footage that the Yıldız family initiated the attack and Fadıl Şenyaşar defended himself while Yıldız family shot to kill.

 

Celal and Adil Şenyaşar were seriously injured and hospitalized as a result of the incident that occurred during the visit of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız to the workplace belonging to Şenyaşar family in Urfa's Suruç district on 14 June 2018 before the general elections, while Mehmet, Fadıl and Ferit Şenyaşar suffered mild injuried. Mehmet Şah Yıldız from Yıldız family also lost his life.

 

AT THE HOSPITAL

 

Urfa Governor Abdullah Erin, former Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba went to Suruç State Hospital, where the injured were hospitalized shortly after the incident. While Erin and Fakıbaba were in the hospital, many members of Yıldız and Şimşek families attacked Celal and Adil Şenyaşar, who was seriously injured at the hospital. As a result of the attack, Celal and Adil Şenyaşar lost their lives, while the father Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar, who went to the hospital to visit his children, was lynched and killed in front of his wife Emine Şenyaşar.

 

"THE CASE HAS BEEN EXECUTED IN CONFIDENTIAL"

 

The investigation has been conducted based on "confidentiality" since 2018. The case, which lasted for about 3 years, was concluded on April 2. The court sentenced Fadıl Şenyaşar to 37 years and 9 months in prison, and Enver Yıldız, who was seen to shoot Adil Şenyaşar in the camera footage, was sentenced to 18 years.

 

Stating that the court ruled without a fair trial and there are many missing elements in the file, Bülent Duran, a member of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), explained the shortcomings of the file to our agency.

 

'THEY SAID NO BODY KNEW HIM'

 

Stating that there has been no legal trial from the beginning, Duran emphasized the case was stalled. Reminding the tape recordings of Enver Yıldız, Duran said, “Enver Yıldız was saying ‘The government will do what is necessary, the MP will make the necessary contacts. Prosecutors will step in and I will be acquitted and I will surrender after my acquittal us guaranteed. While there is the tape recording of the whole thing, the fact that Enver Yıldız said, "I am at home, Let them come take me' is noteworthy. Because the police report says they went looking for him at home and he could not be found, and the neighbors said no one knew him."

 

HE TESTIFIED AFTER 15 MONTHS

 

Bülent Duran stated that while no investigastion was carried out to capture Enver and İbrahim Yıldız, the perpetrators who shot Adil and Celal Şenyaşar in the footage at the workplace, they tried insistantly on creating bonds of an organization for the Şenyaşar Family.  Duran said, "We saw that the warrants were issued immediately, HTS records were examined, the family was examined, and they tried really hard affiliate the family with 'a terrorist organization'. Then, just like the Yıldız family said, the prosecutors and judges stepped in after that and ENver Yıldız surrendered himself, just like he said, on September 17, 2019 and the whole family followed. Until that day, even though they are the perpetrators of the file, not one single family member of the Yıldız family testified in 15 months." 

 

'SEEN IN CAMERA FOOTAGES'

 

It is visible in the security footage of Şenyaşar family's workplace that Mehmet Şah Yıldız pointed his gun against Ferit Şenyaşar but ater a scuffle there, he misses his target and was not able to shoot him. At that moment we see Fadıl Şenyaşar. Celal and Ferit Şenyaşar are being battered at the front while Adil Şenyaşar is being battered by Abdurrahman Yıldız, Mustafa Yıldız and Enver Yıldız, trying to kill him. Fadıl Şenyaşar, at that point, fires his gun twice to repel the attack, but the court sees this as an intent to kill Abdurrahman Yıldız. He is not even hurt as a result of this attack. And Fadıl Şenyaşar doesn't even point his gun to a lethal point in his body, therefore this decision is wrong."
