URFA - Stating that Amara, where PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan was born, is a symbol for the Kurds, HDP's Ömer Öcalan pointed to the Newroz celebrations and said, "No power can separate the Kurdish people and Mr. Öcalan."

 

PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in severe isolation conditions for 23 years in the İmralı Type F High Security Prison, to which he was brought with an international conspiracy, is not allowed to meet with his family and lawyers. Öcalan, who was able to meet with his lawyers only 442 times in the past 23 years, was able to hold only 5 meetings with his lawyers from 2011 to 2019. Öcalan has not been heard from since his "interrupted" phone call with his family on March 25, 2021.

 

The Kurds, who have not heard from Öcalan for more than a year, whom they consider him to be their political will, are celebrating the 73rd birthday of the PKK Leader. Against the aggravated isolation policy put into effect on Imrali Island, the millions who took to the Newroz celebrations of 2022 shouted out that they demand the physical freedom of Öcalan with the slogans of "Biji Serok Apo". With these demands, the Kurds are getting ready to celebrate the 73rd birthday of PKK Leader Öcalan.

 

The nephew of the PKK Leader and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan made evaluations about the isolation policy in İmralı, the prominent messages in Newroz celebrations and the April 4 celebrations.

 

MARCHING WITH THE PEOPLE

 

Pointing to the enthusiasm in the Newroz celebrations, Öcalan noted that  he celebrated Newroz in the Suruç district of Urfa. Emphasizing that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan's efforts were great for Newroz to gain its true meaning, Öcalan said, “Mr. Öcalan defined it as a rebirth. The Kurds adopted the ideas of Mr. Öcalan. A will has been created under the leadership of Mr. Öcalan and this will has been progressing day by day for 50 years. We cannot say that Mr. Öcalan 'walked behind the people'. He marched with the people. Mr. Öcalan created a strong will for the people and that will is getting stronger. Newroz celebrations have been celebrated on this basis for 50 years. When Kurds are mentioned, Newroz comes to mind, and when Newroz is mentioned, Kurds come to mind."

 

SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS

 

Commenting on the messages in the Newroz celebrations, Öcalan said, "Kurds consider their holidary, Newroz, as an indication of the freedom of their leader Öcalan. Although there have been warnings from the stage, most slogans were about Mr. Öcalan.  Kurdish people demand Mr. Öcalan's freedom everywhere. Newroz has been celebrated in a different manner for the last 50 years. Everyone should see that. Mr. Öcalan's ideas made it different. Öcalan comes to mind when someone mentions Newroz. Kurdish people wants to live freely. The people want Mr. Öcalan to be free. His freedom will effect everything. What will be the relations between the Kurds and Iran, Syria, Iraq and Turkey? Mr. Öcalan will carry out a strong policy by sharing his ideas with the public. It will be a solution to the problems in the Middle East."

 

THE BOND BETWEEN ÖCALAN AND THE PEOPLE

 

Stating that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held under aggravated isolation in Imrali Prison for 23 years, Öcalan said that this is a unique situation globally. Underlining that the aim of this isolation is to severe the bond between the people and Öcalan, Öcalan said this is not possible at all. Reminding that PKK Leader Öcalan has not been heard from since the "interrupted" phone call on March 25, 2021, Öcalan said, "This is unacceptable."

 

'HIS PHOLOSOPHY LIES IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THE PEOPLE'

 

Öcalan stated that tens of thousands of people will focus on Amara on April 4 if the bans and restrictions are lifted and continued: “The Kurds give the greatest value to Mr. Öcalan. He paid the highest price for the Kurdish people. No state or power can separate the Kurdish people and Mr. Öcalan. This has been tried for years, but Mr. Öcalan's philosophy lies in the hearts and minds of the Kurdish people. The Kurds see their salvation there. Kurds know who he is working for. He never did anything for his own benefit. He fought for the rights of the Kurds and he is under severe isolation conditions of the last 23 years. We haven't heard from him for a year and we are concerned. Mr. Öcalan must regain his physical freedom as soon as possible. The public's agenda was Öcalan's physical freedom, this demand rose at Newroz celebrations. When Mr. Öcalan is physically free, it will also be a solution to the chaos in Turkey and the Middle East.”
