URFA - Stating that they can not reach the prosecutor of the file regarding the massacre that took place in the Suruç State Hospital four years ago and the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, ferit Şenyaşar said: "Four people were arrested. We want to meet with the prosecutor but they are nowhere to be found. They have to inform us about the file."

 

The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 417. The sit-in was launched on  March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. The mother and son, who continues their sit-in, came to the Urfa Courthouse from their house in Suruç district, 42 kilometers away from the courthouse early in the morning.

 

ARE THE PROSECUTORS BEING THREATENED?

 

Between working hours, the mother and her son convey information about the struggle for justice to lawyers and citizens who go to the courthouse. 10 people were detained last Friday (April 22) regarding the hospital file which has a confidentiality order for the last four years and 4 people were arrested including the Celal Yıldız, brother of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız. Even though a week has passed since the arrests, the Şenyaşar family and their lawyers have not been informed by the authorities. Family and lawyers who want to meet with the case prosecutor and the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor for 5 days have not been able to meet with the prosecutor on the grounds that the prosecutors are on leave. It is alleged that prosecutors were threatened by the Yıldız family after the arrests.

 

Ferit Şenyaşar, who stated that they wanted to meet with the prosecutors today but he was not in his office, said, "4 years later, 4 people were arrested regarding our case. While this is a legal step, it is also a confession. This shows how the four recently arrested people were protected by the superiors for 4 years. Likewise, my brother, who has been in solitary confinement for 4 years, is also in prison on the orders of these superiors. We demand the release of my brother. With these arrests, the state admitted that there was an unlawfulness.”

 

'WE CAN NOT FIND ANYONE TO GET INFORMATION'

 

Stating that it has been 5 days since the arrests of the 4 people, they could not get in touch with the prosecutor or the Chief Public Prousecutor, Şenyaşar said: "4 people have been arrested, we want to meet with the case prosecutor, but they are nowhere to be found. They have to inform us about why they were arrested. We want to meet with the prosecutor but we can not find anyone to get information from."

 

'I WILL NOT GO BACK HOME BEFORE MY SON IS RELEASED'

 

The family shared the following message from Twitter: "The fact that 4 people were arrested for our file 4 years after the murders is in indication that the suspects were protected. Fadıl Şenyaşar whose father and two brothers were arrested with the instruction of the same superiors is being held in a cell alone for 4 years. Emine Şenyaşar says she will not go back home before her son is released."
