DİYARBAKIR - While some of the tents set up by AFAD in assembly areas of Diyarbkır are allocated to earthquake victims in two, at least 20 people stay in each.

The problem of shelter has not been resolved despite the cold weather in the cities centered in Pazarcık of Maraş, which were destroyed by the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that occurred on February 6. Many people who cannot return to their homes in Diyarbakır stay in tents set up in assembly areas. The tents set up by AFAD, on the other hand, are divided into two due to inadequacy, with at least 20 people staying in each.

The earthquake victims, who stayed in tents built on muddy ground, said that their needs such as heating, food, toilet and health were not met, and that they were trying to solve many things by their own means. It was stated that the area in Sümerpark, where some people could not find tents, was unhygienic and did not have portable toilets and showers. Earthquake victims also said that they were subjected to ill-treatment during their food and clothing needs, and that they were given old and unusable items.

THEY BROUGHT BLANKETS FROM HOME

Settling in the tent area in Sümerpark from the Fatih District of Bağlar district, the two sisters said: "We stayed in a tent divided into two with our families of 8 people. We manage with a stove in the small, cramped area. We survive with the blankets we brought from our homes.

20 PEOPLE IN ONE TENT

20 people staying in another tent expressed their needs such as food, clothing, health and toilet. One woman said: "We asked the authorities for a blanket 4-5 times, but there was no return. Many children living in mud-covered tents are also getting ill from the cold weather, inadequate food and lack of hygiene.
