DİYARBAKIR- Stating that he took a statement from a secret witness created 6 months later for 16 detained journalists and used to block the HDP's treasury aid account, Resul Temur, a lawyer said: "This revealed that the investigation was carried out by the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Justice."

 

As part of an investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 16 of 22 people, including 20 journalists, who were detained on June 8, 2022, were arrested by the Diyarbakır Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty, from which they were released on June 1. The judgeship decided to take judicial control measures against 6 people, and to arrest 16 journalists on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization". While the confidentiality decision has left 9 months behind, the indictment of the imprisoned journalists has not yet been prepared."

 

'ALL OBJECTIONS IS REJECTED WITHOUT EXAMINATION'

 

Evaluating the confidentiality decision in the file and the lack of preparation of the indictment, the lawyers of the journalists, Resul Temur said: “The whole public knows that journalists are detained due to their professional activities. In this process, all the objections made to both the Magistrate and the Criminal Court of First Instance for the 'evaluation of the state of detention' 10 times were rejected without examination."

 

'FILE IS CARRIED OUT BY THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE'

 

Stating that the secret witness was listened to by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on December 31, 2022, which is not working hours and is New Year's Eve, and a three-page summary of the file was passed, Temur said: “In other words, the statements of this secret witness are a document that only the summary of the file has been signed in terms of concretization. Apart from this, it does not have any legal character. After the secret witness statement ordered by the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was received, HDP's Treasury aid was cut off with the said anonymous witness statement. The file of the journalists revealed that there is an investigation not only carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, but also by the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Justice.”
