DİYARBAKIR- Dengbêj Axin Biro, who was battered while being transferred to Manavgat Type S Prison, filed a criminal complaint through his lawyers.

 

Dengbêj Axin Biro (İbrahim Ertaş) was detained while he was driving on November 10, 2015 in İzmir Gaziemir, where he was going for a program. Axin Biro, who was targeted by the ruling media with the news titled "They were caught while pulling the bomb out of the ground", was arrested and sent to prison on charges of "being a member of  a terrorist organization". Contrary to the ruling media, it was documented in the police arrest report that Axin Biro was detained while driving. The stage name Ertaş has been using for years was also accepted as a code name. As a result of the trials, artist Axin Biro was sentenced to 20 years and 4 months in prison. Axin Biro, who was transferred to İzmir Şakran Closed Prison after his arrest and to Alanya Type L Prison while the trial was still ongoing, was transferred to Manavgat Type S Prison on October 6, 2022 despite his prostate and diabetes.

 

Biro, who is held in a solitary cell despite his health problems, is exposed to rights violations in prison. Axin Biro's lawyer, Selvi Toprak Fırat, made evaluations about the trial and explained the conditions in the Type S Prison where her client was held.

 

Fırat told Axin Biro that he was punished based on intelligence, but that the source of the intelligence information was not disclosed during the trial. Fırat noted that although his client was detained while he was on the road away from the crime scene, he was targeted as "red-handed" and this situation was given as a justification for the punishment.  

 

BİRO WAS BATTERED AND INSTRUMENTS IS NOT GIVEN

 

Stating that they found out that Biro was exiled to Manavgat Type S Prison, via a phone call he made with his family two weeks later, Fırat said: "The criminal complaints we made to the Alanya and Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices resulted in non-prosecution. Dengbêj Axin Biro's instruments were broken. A single instrument was given first, and other instruments were damaged upon repeated applications.

 

VIOLATIONS OF RIGHTS IN PRISON

 

Emphasizing that the pressure against his client Biro and other prisoners in Manavgat Type S Prison is increasing day by day, Fırat said: "The rights violations in the prison are as follows sometimes, searches are made twice a day, even at night, and property is damaged during searches. These include the presence of cameras to monitor the toilet, bathroom and sleeping units in the rooms where the prisoners are accommodated, the imposition of instrument restrictions, the violation of the nutrition plan despite being diabetic, and the pressure and dishonorable behavior of the personnel.”
