ISTANBUL - Women who came together at the Third Way workshop emphasized that they will play leading roles in the fight against many problems, especially isolation.
People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) Local Governments Women's Board organized a workshop in Istanbul where the topics "Third Way, Alliance and Organization" were discussed before the local governments conference to be held on November 11. Among the women who attended the meeting, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Provincial Director Türkan Aşçı, HDP Kocaeli Provincial Co-chair Aynur Santo and Mesopotamia Cultural Center (MKM) artist Baran Bozyel made evaluations to our agency about the construction of the 3rd Road and the isolation policy.
3RD WAY
Stating that the 3rd Way is a philosophy with a historical and intellectual infrastructure, HDP executive Türkan Aşçı said: "It is the construction of confederalism in the Middle East and radical democracy in Turkey. There are attempts to intervene in the 3rd Way policy with the deepening isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Women have always been a leading force in terms of social opposition because one of the identities that is ignored is the female identity. For this reason, it is the area where traditional systems intervene the most and where objections rise the strongest. While women helped build the 3rd Way in the Middle East with the Rojava Revolution, this power in Iran was revealed with the rebellion and uprising in the person of Jîna Emîni. There is a situation that is shaped by the slogan 'Jin, jiyan, azadi'. 'Jin, jiyan, azadi' may have become universal with the resistance in Iran, but the Kurdish women's movement has aimed to organize with this slogan since the 2000s. I believe that we will break the isolation to the extent that a strong will emerges and provide the 3rd Way."
WOMEN AND CULTURE CRIME
Stating that there is an isolation that spreads from individuals to society in Turkey today, MKM artist Baran Bozyel said: "The way to break this isolation is through the 3rd Way line. The fight against the massacre of women and culture, the corruption of youth and the intensification of wars is possible with the 'Democratic, ecological, women's libertarian' paradigm. Generally, what we take as a basis is women and culture, because there is no healthy society anywhere where there is no culture. All governments from history to the present have first turned to the field of culture and arts. Artists and intellectuals are the mirror of society; however, at this stage, artists and intellectuals have become unable to practice their art. Progress can be made against cultural destruction with the 3rd Way perspective.
'WOMEN WILL LEAD THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 3RD WAY'
HDP Kocaeli Provincial Co-chair Aynur Santo stated that the 3rd Way is also equal representation and continued: “In the Middle East, where blood and wars never cease, the mental revolution is possible with the 3rd Way. Just as women embraced the revolution in Rojava, they will also lead the construction of the 3rd Way. We will fight to spread this line to the whole society. We will continue the construction work by organizing locally in Türkiye and Kurdistan. Women will lead this. We will spread this idea with women's movements all over the world. We will achieve this.”
