RIHA - Thousands of people participated in the march to the Kobanê border against the attacks on North and East Syria, calling to protect the gains of the Rojava revolution.

Thousands of people marched to the Kobanê border within the scope of the vigil action that has been going on for 12 days in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha (Urfa) against the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) to the North and East Syria.

Thousands of people including Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairpersons Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chairperson Tulay Hatimoğulları, Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Co-Chairperson Murat Çepni as well as representatives of political parties and civil society organizations from many cities of Kurdistan gathered to march to the border with slogans “Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)”.

People gathered of Aligor town and got out of their vehicles after the gendarmerie wanted to carry out a background check. The crowd started to march towards Aligor. People encountered the gendarmerie's barricade and continued their march with the slogans “Biji berxwedana Rojava”, “Biji Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)”. The mass marched through the Aligor neighborhood with slogans and applause behind the banner “Rojava Rumeta meye (Rojava is our honour)” and was joined by the residents of the town.

The mass marched enthusiastically until the exit of the town and made a statement here.

'ROJAVA REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE DEFEATED'

Speaking there, Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Co-chair Murat Çepni saluted Rojava Revolution and said: "I commemorate those who were killed. Rojava means 33 dream travelers, Pirsûs means the struggle for justive of the Şenyaşar family. Rojava revolution means the hope and shining star of all the peoples of the world. In a geography turned into darkness, there is a system that opens the way to light. Kobanê has not fallen and will not fall."

'ROJAVA GAINED ITS STATUS WITH ITS STRUGGLE'

Speaking on behalf of the Kurdistan Communist Party, "Those in power have not learnt lessons from history. We call out to the invaders from here. The resisting Rojava people will not bow down. How can they surrender their weapons to the Damascus government when there are so many attacks on Rojava? Have you recognised the status of the Kurdish people? No," said DEM Party MP Sinan Çiftyürek and added, "The people of Rojava gained status through their own struggle. Damascus administration should recognise this status. If we are united, we will defend the Autonomous Administration. But if we are not united, we will be defeated. The occupying states are united in line with their own interests. Then why can't we unite for our own gains."

'LET'S STAND AGAINST THE ATTACKS'

Mehmet Kamaç, FMK member of the Human and Freedom Party, said, “Just as Kurds were divided into four parts years ago. The same thing is wanted to be done again. However, these people are flowing to the border today with the spirit of 2014. Today is a day of unity for Kurds again, like in 2014. Today is the day of unity and defense of Kobanê, the heart of Kurdistan. Once again, we are calling out from Pirsûs. 60 million people cannot be without status in the Middle East. Those 60 million Kurds have not bowed down and will not bow down. This is our call to all world organizations. Let us oppose these attacks and protect our interests.”

'PROTECTION OF DEMOCRATIC LIFE IS OBLIGATORY'

Speaking on behalf of DIK, religious scholar Dünayser Mendelkani said, “Rojava is the home of free life. We condemn the massacres against Kurdish people and Alevis in Rojava. We call on religious scholars and elders from here. The unity of the Kurdish people is essential for the protection of Rojava. From here, we call on the Arab and Kurdish people and religious people. Those who committed these massacres have the mentality of Pharaoh. It is obligatory to fight against them. It is obligatory to protect the democratic life in Rojava.”
