ŞIRNEX - The wall where the entrance door of the historical Mîr Abdaliye Madrasah in Cizîr district, which was abandoned to its fate due to lack of restoration, collapsed.
The historical Mîr Abdaliye Madrasah in Sur neighbourhood of Cizîr (Cizre) district of Şirnex (Şırnak) was abandoned to its fate. The madrasah was built in 1437 by Emir Abdal Ibn-i Abdullah Seyfettin Boti adjacent to the city walls. On the eastern side of the madrasah, which has a masjid, a mausoleum, a madrasah cell, an entrance unit providing access to the courtyard and an iwan, is the mausoleum of Mem û Zîn, who was the subject of Ehmedê Xanê's poetic work with his epic love at the end of the 17th century.
The wall of the entrance door of the madrasah, which was not restored, on the side facing the Sur neighbourhood collapsed due to deep cracks. Luckily, no one was buried under the wall during the collapse, while rubble remained from the wall.
The damage to the historic madrasah, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Religious Foundation of Turkey, has not been repaired despite repeated reports. The only security measure taken around the madrasa was a strip of tape. On the entrance door of the madrasa, there was a sign warning "Closed due to malfunction".
RESPONSE FROM DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP
The madrasah, which is visited by hundreds of people every day, was abandoned to its fate. The positioning of a child as the security of the madrasah attracts attention. The interviewee stated that they had previously informed the District Governorate and the Foundation for restoration, but the District Governorate replied, "There is nothing we can do, we are not responsible even if it is demolished".
