The Syrian Women's Assembly made a statement regarding the "National Dialogue Congress" held in Damascus yesterday.  

 

The statement reads: "As signs of breaking free from an era filled with destruction, devastation, and fragmentation emerge, an era in which the country was lost in a vortex of darkness and suffering under a single color while the diverse fabric of Syrian society was erased, Syrians once again find themselves fearing a repetition of the past, perhaps even more severe than before. This is especially alarming given the government's recent decision to hold a national conference at an unprecedented pace, within just eleven days. Moreover, the implementation process and invitation mechanism lacked inclusivity for all societal and political groups capable of ensuring fair representation for Syria’s diverse components.

 

Therefore, we, at the Syrian Women’s Council, reject all outcomes of a conference shaped by a mindset of exclusion, denial, and intolerance. We, as Syrian women, have struggled to elevate Syria and live within it with dignity and true belonging. We refuse to be a tool for legitimizing an unjust reality, especially after all the sacrifices made. This conference is doomed before it even begins because the Syrian people, and Syrian women in particular, will not and will never accept the imposition of oppression once again."
