İZMİR- İZBAN workers who are in a work stoppage for 4 days now, said: " We are determined to continue our strike until our demands are met. We want the strike to end and keep working for the people of İzmir."

 

The work stoppage 343 workers have started in front of Alsancak Trainstation when İzban did not accept their demand of 19,43 percent salary raise, is in its 4th day now. The strike starts at 07.00 A.M and ends at 21.00 P.M everyday. The workers who underlined their determination said they will continue the stoppage until their demands are met.

 

Celal Dağaşan, the board member of the union said the workers are ready to start working as long as they come to an agreement with the employer. Dağaşan stating that noone have started the stoppage willingly, said: " As we do not go to strike, the wages of our personal rights will be cut off every day. But it's better to die  once instead of dying everyday. We are living  in starvation treshold. There is no point in working when these conditions are not corrected. Our strike is not an action against the employer or the passengers. We are fighting for our rights, for our children and our lives. The statements of the employer is a lie. Those high numbers are not what we are going for. Labourer's rights are being expoited in Turkey. We are determined to continue our strike until our demands are met. We wan't to go back to work serving the people of İzmir when our demands are met."
