İSTANBUL- Erol Önderoğlu, Ahmet Nesin and Şebnem Korur Fincancı's trial in the case of Özgür Gündem, the court sent the file to the prosecutor to prepare his opinion on the merits.

 

 

 The hearing where Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu, writer Ahmet Nesin,   Prof. Dr.Şebnem Korur Fincancı Chairperson of  Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TIHV) are being tried for the campaign initiated for solidarity with the newspaper Özgür Gündem which was closed by a law decree was held at İstanbul 13th Criminal Court today. Attorneys of Öderoğlu and Fincancı attended the hearing.

 

While Ahmet Nesin who lives abroad did not attend the hearing, he gave a rogatory statement.Nesin said he did not accept the charges and he was kept in prison for 11 days in scope of this case.

 

Önderoğlu and Fincancı said they did not have anything to add to their initial statements.The coourt board removed the warrant for Nesin due to his regatory statement.The delegation sent the file to the prosecutor to prepare their opinion on the matter and adjourned the hearing to 27 February
