DİYARBAKIR- HDP Diyarbakır Deputy Remziye Tosun brought the killings of Berivan Karakeçili and İbrahim Halil Oruç to parliamentary agenda.
People's Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır Deputy Remziye Tosun tabled parliamentary questions on Berivan Karakeçili (13), who lost her life in Antalya Kumluca on January 24 while she was working in the field during hurricane and İbrahim Halil Oruç who was killed with the explosion of the oil stove where he worked.
Tosun who reminded tha fact that Karakeçili came to Antalya from Urfa as a seasonal agricultural worker and was forced to work in spite of the hurricane because her bosses said 'You have to work even if it rains stones on you'. Again, Tosun underlined tha fact that 16 year old İbrahim Halil Oruç had to quit middle school in order to work because his father was discharged with a law decree and was killed during a working accident.
HDP Deputy Tosun asked these questions to Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zümrüt Selçuk:
"- Is there any investigation conducted for the boss who said 'You have to work even if it rains stones on you', or will you start an investigation?
-Father of Berivan Karakeçili have made serious evaluations about the attitudes towards seasonal agricultural workers. Will you start an investigation about this accusations?
-Is there any work initiated by your Ministry against uninsured and unsecured employment of seasonal workers?
- Are both Berivan Karakeçili and Ibrahim Khalil Oruç's working as labourers to contribute economically to their families instead of attending school in accordance with the principle of a social state?
- Will the government or the council of ministers who signed the law decree discharging İbrahim Halil Oruç's father without any court decision or concrete evidence causing İbrahim Halil Oruç to leave school to support his family as their economic situation was worsening, make any statements or assume responsibility?
- Has any investigation been launched on the incident which caused İbrahim Halil Oruç to lose his life? "
