MERSİN- Bışar Bilen who has been on a hunger strike in Tarsus Prison for 31 days, said: "The isolation started in İmralı is a clamp on democracy and peace in this country" and said they will continue their hunger strike until they get results.
The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven have started with the demand of the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 127th day.
After Güven's hunger strike spreaded to all prisons, Bışar Bilen, a prisoner in Tarsus No 1 Type T Prison started an indefinite non-rotating hunger strike on February 12. Bilen who was studying primary school teaching in Dicle University in 2010, was arrested on his senior year and was sentenced to 24 years of prison with the accusation of managing an illegal organization.
Bilen who grew up in a political family, joined the political struggle in university. Bilen was on hunger strike for 44 days back in September 12, 2012.
Ali Bilen, brother of Bişar Bilen conveyed his message where he said: "This hunger strike action is completely humane. The threatment on Öcalan is unlawful and unjust. We consider the action of our friend Leyla Güven as a meaningful and just attitude. The isolation started in İmralı is a clamp on democracy and peace in this country. We will continue our hunger strike until we get results even there is death at the end. Today, the hunger strikers are on the threshold of death. The government has to step forward and act at once regarding the demands. They need to find a solution. This can not be postponed after the elections or anything else for that matter. This can not be postponed even for an hour at this point."
