DİYARBAKIR- Şükran Akboğa, mother of Şiyar Akboğa who joined the hunger strike action on March 1, said: "Mothers will understand, how can a mother eat and sleep while her child is hungry? I will not wait for my son to die" and stated that she will join the hunger strike if the government do not find a solution.
The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven started in Diyarbakır Type E Closed Prison on November 8, with the demand of the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan have left behind 127 days.While the hunger strike of the 331 prisoners who joined the hunger strike after Güven is on its 88th day. The hunger strike spreaded to all prisons on March 1.
Şiyar Akboğa who is being held in Bandırma No 2 Type T Closed Prison have joined the hunger strike with the same demand on March 1 with 28 other prisoners.
Şükran Akboğa, mother of Şiyar Akboğa who started the hunger strike with 28 friends from his ward, said: " There is an aggravated isolation in Turkey. This isolation started with Abdullah Öcalan and has been continuing ever since. He is not allowed to see anyone. With a demand to end this injustice, Leyla Güven and our children have started this hunger strike. If our children lay their lives for it, so will we. If the isolation is over, so will the hunger strikes. Plain and simple.That's what we have been struggling for. We are struggling for a life no one is being marginalized."
Akboğa also said: "I don't remember eating with my children since the hunger strikes began.Mothers will understand, how can a mother eat and sleep when their children are hungry? I will not wait for my son to die. I will join the hunger strike if the government doesn't find a solution for this. As other peoples,all we want is a life of honour."
