EZALIĞ - Rojda Amaç who visited her husband Sinan Amaç in Elazığ High Security Prison, stated that the pressure have increased in the last week and the guards have been raiding the wards of the prisoners and inflict violence and put those who object in solitary confinement.
Elazığ Department of Correnctions is known to be the biggest penal institution in the region and 4th in Turkey and is always on the agenda with violations of rights. According to the information obtained, the prisoners in No 1 and No 2 in Elazığ are being tortured and put in solitary confinement.
The allegations were also conveyed by relatives of the prisoner who went for a visit on Monday (July 8th).
Rojda Amaç said her husband told her that the pressure have increased in the last week and the guards have been raiding their wards regardless of how late or early it is. The guards, he told, have been battering and torturing the prisoners, tearing down their clothes and insult them. Amaç said those who resist and object are being put in solitary confinement.
Amaç said the petitions the prisoners wrote were not being accepted by the prison administration or even recorded therefore noone knew about what's going on in there. Amaç stating that the political prisoners are always under pressure and torture there, called on to the Ministry of Justice, the non-governmental organizations to be involved in the process and take immediate action to remove the pressure on the prisoners.
