İSTANBUL- Journalist Yusuf Karataş, stating that Turkey have come to a dead end with Syria, said the expansionist ambitions of Erdoğan and his policy to see the gains of the Kurds as a threat is pulling Turkey in a regional war swamp.

 

The delegation headed by James Jeffrey, the US Special Representative in Syria, met with National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın and Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal on July 22-24. In the same days, US Central Forces (CENTCOM) Commander Gen. Kenneth McKenzie met  Democratic Syrian Forces (QSD) General Commander Mazlum Ebdi in Hesekê. The night when USA delegation  met the represantatives of Rojava and Turkey officials, a cannon ball attack was carried out in Urfa, Ceylanpınar from Serékaniye, injuring 6 people. Journalist and writer Yusuf Karataş evaluated the meetings and the cannon ball attack to Ceylanpınar.

 

 

Stressing that Turkey is in an impasse in Syria, Karatas said: "Erdogan's government wants to eliminate the gains of the Kurds in Syria, but exludes the US intervention plan. On the other hand, the Syrian regime is not leaning towards Turkey's intervention because they want to leave the Russian border regions to the regime forces. Thus, the process escaledes to a point where Turkey is coming closer to a dead end. US talks in Ankara and Rojava, in fact, can be described as indirect talks between Turkey and SDG forces. It is not unlikely that a process in which Öcalan will also be in the event that the indirect talks evolve into direct talks in the coming period. The fact that Öcalan's attorneys made a special emphasis on Syria is pointing out to this possibility."
