The Court of Appeal upheld the 159-year prison term for lawyers in the Contemporary Lawyers' Association case

NEWS CENTER - The case against 20 lawyers of the Contemporary Lawyers' Association (ÇHD) has been rejected by the court of appeal for the cancellation of the local court decision in the case filed on charges of "establishing and managing a terrorist organization" and "membership of a terrorist organization".In the case, the lawyers from the ÇHD and the People's Law Office were sentenced to a total of 159 years in prison.

 
According to the decision of the Istanbul Regional Courts of Justice 2nd Criminal Chamber, the sentences of Didem Baydar Unsal, Yaprak Turkmen, Aysegul Cagatay, Yagmur Ereren Evin, Ahmet Mandaci and Zehra Ozdemir, who were sentenced under 5 years, were finalized to be closed.
 
Appeal court, the local court has been punished by over 5 years Barkın Timtik, Selcuk Kozagacli, Engin Gokoglu, Ozgur Yilmaz, Ebru Timtik, Sukriye Erden, Behic Asci, Aytac Unsal, Suleyman Gokten, Naciye Demir, Aycan Cicek and Ezgi Cakir's appeal applications also refused.
 
However, for these 12 lawyers who have been sentenced for more than 5 years, the Court of Cassation is open.
 
The international delegation of 15 lawyers from the 7 European countries following the case said at a press conference today that it would request an interview with the Ministry of Justice to report its observations on the proceedings.
 
ÇHD, social media account, said in an assessment on behalf of the International Lawyers Association, "Attorneys against the attacks and unlawfulness will be the followers of the" stressed.
 
Barkın Timtik: 18 years and 9 months imprisonment and detention on charges of "establishing and managing an organization pursuant to Article 314/1 of the Turkish Penal Code.
 
Ozgur Yilmaz: 13 years 6 months, arrest warrant to be issued

Aytaç Ünsal: 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment and continuation of imprisonment,
 
Süleyman Gökten: 10 years 6 months imprisonment and arrest warrant to be issued
 
Ayçan Çiçek: 9 years of imprisonment and continuation of imprisonment
 
Naciye Demir: 9 years imprisonment and arrest warrant to be issued
