HAKKARİ- After the first hearing of the case where the dismissed Yüksekova Co- Mayor İrfan Sarı, the court decided to continue the detention of Sarı and postponed the hearing to March 9.
The first hearing of Yüksekova Municipality Co-mayor İrfan Sarı, who was detained during a raid on his home on October 15 and was arrested by the court on October 17 was held in Hakkari 3rd High Criminal Court.
Peoples's Democratic Party (HDP) MP Sait Dede, HDP Provincial and District Co- Chairs and his family attended the hearing which Sarı attended via video conference (SEGBİS).
The trial started with the identification of the defendant. Sarı was accused of 'being a member of an illegal organization'.
Rejecting the charges against him, Sarı stated that social media posts should be evaluated within the framework of freedom of expression.
The court decided to continue the detention of Sarı and postponed the hearing until March 9, 2020.
