ADANA - Even though calls are made to protect social distance and ensure people staying at home, workers working in textile factories in Adana are now working without their days off, without masks and glows and in crowds of 150 people.

One of the profession groups that have to work during the impact of coronavirus spreaded to the world is textile workers.. Textile workers in Adana stated that they are forced to work and there are no measures taken.

While the workers did not give names and photographs for fear of losing their jobs, they expressed that they were made to work with disregard for their health. T.Z., who works in a textile factory, said that he had been a textile worker for 8 years, that he was fired before getting his rights at the previous factory and that he was working at the current factory through İŞKUR. Expressing that they had their Sundays and Mondays off before the epidemic, but now they are working every day now, T.Z. drew attention to the fact that no measures were taken in the workplace. T.Z. said: "We are working with 200 people in the factory. There are no disinfectants, masks and gloves in the workplace. 26 people are being put into 16-person buses. We also have to eat together in the cafeteria. We are working at the risk of death".

'THE STATE MUST FULFIL ITS RESPONSIBILITY'

T.Z, mentioning the calls to stay home, stated that in order for the people to stay home, the government should fulfil their responsibilities and provide  the necessary conditions. T.Z said: "Who will feed my family if I stay home? We will starve if we don't work for a week. This is not like that for the rich.If we will continue production, they should take the necessary precautions and supervise the workplace continuously. We don't want to die from the virus, nor from starvation. The government should do their job and fulfil their responsibilities."
