KOBANÊ - A science committee was established in North and East Syria where no Covid- 19 cases was detected. Fırat Region Health Minister Dr. Ehmed Mehmud, who is a member of the committee, stating that the epidemic did not spread to the region as a result of the measures taken, explained about the work the committee does.

Mortality rates are increasing day by day due to the coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, which threatens the whole world and no solution has been developed yet. In North and East Syria, which is one of the places where epidemic cases have not been seen yet, the measures taken from the first day continue to be strictly implemented. In the region, where the curfew declared against the epidemic will be extended, a committee consisting of 12 doctors has been established to fight the virus.

Fırat Region Health Minister Ehmed Mehmud who is a member of the committee, stated that they are having an effective fight against the virus with limited opportunities.

THERE ARE NO CONFIRMED CASES

Mehmud, stating that no cases were detected yet in the North and East Syria, stated that they have implemented different measures for every different city and district. Mehmud, stating that they have allocated 3 different places for quarantine in Kobané, said: "We plan to quarantine those infected here. We have medical teams for emergencies. We have a seperate communication line for that and we shared it with our people. These teams will go there immediately when called. These teams have gone visited many places when they were called but they have not come across a coronavirus case."

WE TESTED THE FIRST KITS WE PRODUCED

Stating that no cases have been detected in Northern and Eastern Syria until now, said the reason for that was the measures they took. Mehmud pointing out that they closed the borders, said they took action before the epidemic was seen around the country. Mehmud said: "We implemented a curfew. We are using the test kits we produced. I think this situation will continue a little longer. We are still discussing this at the crisis desk we have created. But we can prolong the curfew we apply. Our only desire from our people is that they do not leave their homes for now. This is necessary for their health."

Speaking about the Scientific Committee created in Kobanê against the epidemic, Mehmud noted that the Ministry of Health has led the work in question. Mehmud explained the purpose of the committee as follows: "We determined a program as a committee. We decided how to act in a possible situation. We determined when to quarantine the person if they have coronavirus, which medicine to be used, will they be intervened at home or in quarantine, is it coronavirus or not, these will all be determined by the committee and we will proceed accordingly. Also as the committe, we want to work on a solution to this. There are some methods we are working on with the means we have at hand."
