ANKARA - HDP Group Vice President Meral Danış Beştaş defining the rejection of Interior Minister Soylu's resignation as 'whitewashing', said: "The fact that they can no longer administrate Turkey revealed itself with their inner conflicts and internal contradictions."

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Group Vice President Meral Danış Beştaş held a press conference regarding the law proposal on execution. HDP MPs held the photos of imprisoned politicians and a banner, written 'Equality in Execution' at the press release held in front of the parliament.

Beştaş started her speech by offering condolences to those who lost their loved ones due to coronavirus outbreak. Beştaş, stating that the measures are insufficient, said: "We will not be able to pass this subject without saying that better management and stronger measures are needed to prevent these deaths from increasing. The curfew was announced at the wrong time and without a plan which caused probably millions of people to get infected. The whole world saw how Turkey is being managed with a short-sided government. While the virus continues to spread, AKP continues to stay on their own agenda."

Stating that the resignation of Minister Soylu is evidence that the government is not able to manage the crisis, Beştaş commented on the refusal of his resignation and said: "We are face to face with a Minister of Interior that endangered the lives of the people with a curfew. He said that the decision was taken by him and the President Tayyip Erdoğan before he resigned. Then yesterday, he said that he was responsible for the decision of the abrubt curfew decision.  We can say that he is contradicting himself. He tried to whitewash the president. And the President tried to whitewash Soylu. They are in a mutual whitewashing situation. Their internal conflicts shows us that they can no longer manage the crisis or manage Turkey."

Beştaş added: "The public health continues to take major blows. We will insist on telling that we are following their crisis of not being able to run the country and that the people of Turkey deserves better."
