İSTANBUL - Sevgül Koçak, older sister of Mustafa Koçak who has been on a death fast for 287 days with the demand of a 'fair trial', said her brother detoriorated after the forced intervention and he can not sleep from the pain.

Mustafa Koçak who has been on trial for the case of the killing of Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz while he was on duty in İstanbul Courthouse and sentenced to 2 counts of aggravated life in prison has been on a death fast for 287 days, demanding fair trail. Koçak, who is being held in Şakran No 2 Type T Closed Prison has turned the hunger strike into a death fast on his 93rd day.

Koçak was forcefully taken to hospital on his 255th day and was forced to be put on a drip 73 times, which he ripped right off. He was taken back to Kırıklar No 1 Prison 5 days later.

His sister Mine Koçak, Sinan Yanbal and Mahir Kılıç are on a one week hunger strike in solidarity with Koçak.

HIS LAWYER: HE WAS TORTURED FOR 5 DAYS

His lawyer Ezgi Çakır stated that her client was tortured for 5 days in the hospital. Attorney Çakır who stated that they referred her client to the Forensic Medicine Institude for a report of torture, said: “An alternative report was prepared with the findings from the ATK and the minutes of the Izmir Bar Association. In the report, it was determined that the forced intervention to our client was in scope of torture according to the criteria of the World Health Organization. They want to take our client back to the hospital now. The conditions are not suitable for him to be taken to the hospital. We want our client to be released immediately.”

Koçak sister Sevgül Koçak said: "Mustafa is scared of the word 'hospital'. He told that he was scared and they were torturing him there. He said that they did not allow him to use the bathroom and he had to sit in his feces for 5 days."

Sister Koçak who stated that they applied to the prison to take him back to hospital but they couldn't go forward with it because of the outbreak, said: "The prison administration told us that they will keep him there in quarantine for 14 days. In his condition, leaving him alone for 14 days means he will die."

Koçak, stating that they can only speak to her brother on the phone and he said that he is no longer able to sleep because of the pain, said: "He can no longer feel his arms and legs. Maybe he became disabled as a result of the forced feeding. We don't know."

Sister Sevgül Koçak said: "My brother told me he is below 30 kilos now and he said I am in a great deal of pain but I will endure it so that no one goes through this injustice again."

Sister Koçak stating that they are glued to the prison doors to prevent them from taking Mustafa back to the hospital again, said: "All we want is a fair trial. Give him back to us so that if he will die, he dies with his family by his side."
