DİYARBAKIR - In the case where Cemal Özdemir, the Co-Mayor of Sur Municipality being tried with the claim of 'membership of an illegal organization', a release order was issued. Following the appointment of a trustee on December 21, 2019; Özdemir was arrested and sent to Erzurum Type H Prison.
The second hearing of the case against Sur Municipality Co-Mayor Cemal Özdemir who was charged with 'being a member of an illegal organization', 'propagandizing an illegal organization', 'purchasing and carrying weapons or bullets that are qualitatively perilous ' and 'keeping and passing hands of dangerous materials without permission' was held today at Dİyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. Özdemir attended the hearing via SEGBİS (Video conference system).
In the evaluation made by the court regarding the detention, it was decided that Özdemir to be released taking the time spent in detention into account.
The court adjourned the hearing to 7 July.
