OSMANİYE - A delegation made up of HDP and IHD met with Osmaniye T Type Prison officials and prisoners there. The delegation stated that they conveyed the problems of the prisoners to the prison administration.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Adana Deputy Tülay Hatimoğulları, Human Rights Association (İHD) Central Prison Commission Spokesperson Lawyer İlhan Öngör and HDP Law Commission Member Lawyer Yakup Ataş met with Osmaniye T Type Closed Prison Administration and prisoners. Following the meeting, Hatimoğulları from HDP made a statement in front of the prison.
Hatimoğulları stated that the administration told them there were no coronavirus (Covid- 19) cases in that particular prison. Hatimoğulları, stating that the new law on execution is far from meeting the expectations, said the law violates the principle of equality.
Hatimoğulları, who said that they asked the prison administration about measures they took against coronavirus and the complaints of the prisoners' families, said the prison administration gave their word to attend to these issues. Hatimoğulları said: "A small disinfectant is 23 liras in the prison canteen. The prisoners can't afford it. We spoke to them about providing disinfectants for the prisoners."
Hatimoğulları, addressing the situation of sick prisoners Sabri Kaya, called on to the government to take serious steps regarding the sick prisoners and emphasized that sick prisoners should not remain in prison during the outbreak. Hatimoğulları and the delegation then visited the family of Sabri Kaya in Adana, Ceyhan.
