ANKARA - Barış Çakan's grandfather Veli Çokyaman and his two cousins told that Çakan was killed because he was listening to Kurdish music. Çokyaman told that his friend who was with him at that moment told that that the fight was about Kurdish music.

A Kurdish young man, 20 year Barış Çakan lost his life in the Etimesgut district of Ankara last night. Our local sources called our agency around 22.45 last night and told that Çakan was murdered and added that Kurdish music was the reason he was killed.

We reached Çakan family and the political party and the association they were related to upon claims. Doğan Çakan, a family member whom we reached shared the information that Çakan was murdered because they were listening to Kurdish music. Doğan Çakan confirmed that he obtained this information from their family and explained that they were attacked before because they were listening to Kurdish music.

Çakan gave us a statement yesterday and told: "If I'm not wrong, there had been something with the music. They were listening to music. That happened to us too. Those racist fascist started the fight and then Barış's friend fleed."

THE NEWS IS CORRECT

Doğan Çakan tweeted 'Some said we were creating a false perception, but the news is correct. He is my relative. Some told that he was a member of an organization. He worked as a construction worker and never hurt a fly."

However, in the following hours Çakan shared another post in social media, thanking the police and telling that they were waiting for the Governor's Office' statement.

HE CLOSED HIS ACCOUNT

Later, Çakan shared the Governor's Office's statement and closed his account. Doğan Çakan told that the twitter account was not his and spoke to some media outlets confirming the governorate's statement.

AFTER THE GOVERNORATE'S STATEMENT...

Following the news about Barış Çakan's death, the family obtained the information that their son was listening to Kurdish music and was killed for it and shared the information with their relatives and friends. However, after the governorate made a statement, the family changed their statements as well. Father Nihat Çakan who spoke to our agency after the statement said: "My son's friend told them that Azan was being recited and that they should respect it. Then they started to fight and my son's friend fleed. He asked me the time before he went out and told me he'd come back for prayer. I told him that it was in ten minutes. 25 minutes later I saw his dead body."

GRANDFATHER: HE WAS KILLED BECAUSE HE WAS LISTENING TO KURDISH MUSIC

However the relatives of Çakan, who came from İstanbul that we talked in Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) içn Keçiören, in the hospital and in the Elvankent Cemetery told tat they were informed that Barış Çakan was killed because of the discussion that "he was listening to Kurdish music".

Mezopotamya Agency reached Veli Çokyaman, the grandfather of Barış Çakan, who could not attend the funeral due to his health problems and age. Grandfather Çokyaman told that he was informed about the incident by his daughter, the mother of Barış Çakan and her daughter told him on the phone that there happened a discussion about "Kurdish music".  grandfather Çokyaman gace the following information: "The boy who was killed is my grandson. the friend of my grandson is from Kars (The person referred as B.A. in the statement of the ankara Governorate). According to what he says Barış was listening Kurdish music, and the other party did not accept this. Governorate distorts the incident. According to what my daughter tells me, this is how Barış's friend first told the family the incident. So everybody witnessed this was what they told. What has been told before is the truth. It is distorted now."

COUSINS AFFIRMED

Our reporters, who went to the house of Çakan family, talked with two cousins of Barış Çakan. the female cousin of Çakan who opened the door of the house told that the reason why he was killed was the "Kurdish music". After she shared this information, other people in the house intervened her speaking to us.

Another cousin of Barış Çakan that we spoke in front of the house told: "2-3 friends come and meet with my cousin Barış and they open some Kurdish music. Then the chaos happens. They told them 'to close the music'. And my cousin Barış and his friends tell the others 'you close your own music'. Then the tension rises. The friend of Barış runs away. Barış is left alone. And he ran into a garden, trying to defend himself, but he can't. 3 people comes after hims and they stab him in the hard two times."

When asked "Who gave you this information?", the cousin of Barış gave the following answer: "My uncle (Barış's father) told us. This is the truth. Do you know why? Because when we arrived my uncle went to the park Barış was stabbed. Barış was lying on the ground. And Barış's sister was also there. And our best friends were there too and they would never lie. Let the God not accept, what can I tell. Barış's father is a believer. I would doubt myself, but not him. He told me what happened like this and I am just saying what he told me."

Both cousins told that they were quite anxious after they were targeted about their statements regarding the killing of Barış after the press statement of Ankara Governorate and they demanded their names to remain anonymous.
