An 'effective investigation' request from the Bar Association against police violence

HAKKARİ - The Colemêrg Bar Association requested an effective investigation into the police violence in Gever.
 
A statement was made by the bar association regarding the police violence in the house raids in Colemêrg(Hakkari)'s Gever ( Yüksekova) district yesterday. In a written statement made by the Colemêrg Bar Association, it was stated that they met with Mustafa Bor, one of the battered youth, and their statements were recorded in the minutes. Noting that they demanded an effective investigation to be carried out, the Bar Association called for an effective investigation to be launched against those responsible. In the statement, it was stated that “International conventions and documents, to which Turkey is a party, and domestic law define torture and are absolutely prohibited”.
 
'TORTURE CANNOT BE ACCEPTABLE'
 
In the statement, which stated that torture is against human dignity and unacceptable, "No one can be tortured or ill-treated in any way or at any stage, regardless of the accusation against them. Necessary action should be taken against the officials who are found. We demand that an effective and urgent investigation be carried out against violent acts and the perpetrators are punished, and we respectfully declare to the public that we follow the legal process.
