İSTANBUL - Lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan filed an application to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to be able to visit their client.

Lawyers Newroz Uysal, Faik Özgür Erol, Cengiz Yürekli and Mazlum Dinç filed their application to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to be able to visit Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned under strict isolation measured since 1999 in İmralı Prison located on the İmralı Island.

After a continuous ban of eight years on lawyer-client meeting, lawyers were allowed to visit their client Öcalan on May 2, 2019 following hunger strikes launched by hundreds of supporters of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), with Leyla Güven initiating the massive action to demand an end to Öcalan’s isolation.  Another four visists were held on May 22, June 12, June 18 and Aug. 7 of the same year.

The lawyers have filed 86 applications since August 7, 2019, but have received no response yet.
