ANKARA – HDP Vice President Ümit Dede said: "The AKP and MHP who usurped the will of the people, and its subordinate judiciary members will definately be prosecuted", regarding the uphelding of the prison sentence of Selçuk Mızraklı
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Deputy Co-Chairperson for Law and Human Rights Ümit Dede made a written statement regarding the request of the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for approval regarding the 9 years and 4 months imprisonment for Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Selçuk Mızraklı.
He recalled that the Diyarbakır Regional Court oj Justice hastily sentenced Mızraklı to 9 years 4 months and 15 days, with unrealistic accusations on July 15, 2020.
Dede said: "The sentence given to Mızraklı is a freak of law and purely based on the unrealistic statements of Hicra Berna Ayverdi.The judiciary ruled by the government is applying enemy law to the Kurds and all who opposes them."
Dede continued: "These political decisions made by the judiciary have been condemned in the conscience of the people. The AKP-MHP government and its subordinate members of the judiciary who usurp the legitimate and democratic will of the people will be prosecuted according to the universal legal principles. Our party will never give up its determination to raise a strong struggle for democracy against persecution and oppression. "
