ŞIRNAK - Reacting to the fact that the Court of Appeals approving the 19 thousand TL fine imposed on the defendant police officer Ömer Yeğit in the 'Water cannon case', the family of the Yıldırım brothers asked if their conscience is clear and if they can sleep at night.

The appeal made to the Court of Appeals regarding the killing of two brothers, brothers Muhammed (7) and Furkan Yıldırım (6) by the police officer Ömer Yeğit with a water cannon that pulled down the wall and entered the house where the two brothers were sleeping regarding the trifle fine for Ömer Yeğit and the acquittal of Murat Maden was rejected by the court that said the decisions were in accordance with the law. Mother Nesime Yıldırım and grandmother AYşe Yıldırım slammed the decision made by the court.

A SHAMEFUL DECISION

Mother Yıldırım said: "We don't accept this decision but it's a shame that there's nothing we can do about it. We tried so hard to get the killers of our children punished, but a shameful decision has been made. They might have won at the court today but they will be punished when they're judged by God. These people should have been punished. They shouldn't have walked away."

'I WISH I HAD SEEN THE KILLER'S FACE'

Grandmother Ayşe Yıldırım said: "The murderer had to be punished in order to reduce our pain even a little bit. If they were not guilty as they say, they would have come and apologize to us. But they didn't. Because they are guilty. What was that water cannon doing on that street? There were no demonstrations or clashes at that time. They killed our children in their sleep. They sentenced the man responsible to 3 months in prison. Then he was sent home. We don't even know that he spent that 3 months in prison, how can we?

I just wish I had seen that killer's face once. HOw can a person kill two small children. Is his conscience clear, can he sleep at nights? Our hearts have been tearing apart for the last 3 years. They were not punished because we are Kurdish. This person should have been punished so that another mother wouldn't suffer like this at his hand. We have no hope. There is no justice. They are standing by them because they are Turkish and we are Kurdish. We only had one wish and that was the man killing our children to be punished. They didn't even do that."
