İSTANBUL - Political parties and non-governmental organizations, including HDK, HDP and DBP, called for participation in the march to be held with the slogan "We are marching to freedom" on the anniversary of the plot against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

 

Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD), Mesopotamia Cultural Center (MKM), Association for Aid and Solidarity with the Those Who Lost Their Relatives in Anatolia (ANYAKAYDER), Marmara Association for Assistance and Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts (MATUHAYDER), Kurdish Studies Association and Democratic Alevi Association (DAD) made a statement before the anniversary of the international conspiracy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan that started on October 9, 1998. In the statement made at the HDP Provincial Organization building, a banner written "We are marching to freedom against conspiracy, isolation, the torture system in dungeons and the abandonment of sick prisoners to die" was unfurled.

 

REACT TO CONSPIRACY AND ISOLATION

 

Kalo Bozukmak from MATUHAYDER stated that with the conspiracy against Öcalan, the hope of a common life of the peoples in the Middle East was targeted. Emphasizing that the problems in the region became gangrenous with the conspiracy, Bozukmak said, “Today, the violations of rights in the dungeons have come to the point of reflection of the isolation on the society. This is not irrelevant with the isolation on Öcalan." Stating that the isolation started with the conspiracy, Bozukmak said, “The only thing left for us is to break this isolation. It is to break the isolation on all peoples in the person of Öcalan and to march towards freedom.”

 

CALL FOR THE MARCH

 

DBP Istanbul Advisory Office Co-spokesperson Dilber Demir pointed to the isolation imposed with the conspiracy and said, “It is in close relation with attacks against peoples, especially the Kurdish people. Ending the isolation and meeting Öcalan's ideas with the society are of great importance today, as it has always been.” Demir stated that they will organize a series of demonstrations and events in the 24th year of the conspiracy. Demir called for a march to be held in Kadıköy at 15.00 on Sunday.

 

ÖCALAN IS THE INTERLOCUTOR OF THE KURDISH QUESTION

 

HDP Istanbul Provincial Co-Chair İlknur Birol stated that the conspiracy against Öcalan caused a historical break. Stating that security policies are in effect at the point of solving the Kurdish problem and this causes the denial of rights and freedoms, Birol emphasized that Öcalan should be directly addressed for the solution of the Kurdish question and called for participation to the rally to be held in Kadıköy.
