BURDUR - Ill prisoner Yılmaz Üstek stated that he was threatened by the wardens and all his belongings were seized.
Yılmaz Üstek was arrested on 27 November 2012 in Qereyazî (Karayazı) district of Erzirom (Erzurum) on charges of "being a terror organization member". Üstek was transferred from Konya Ereğl, High Security Closed Prison to Burdur High Security Closed Prison nearly 2 months ago.
His family was not informed about the transfer of Üstek, who has a heart disease and vision problems. Weeks after his transfer, Üstek informed his family about the situation in a phone call.
'THEY TOOK ALL MY BELONGINGS'
Üstek said that all his belongings were seized in the prison he was transferred to. Üstek said, "In the prison I was brought to, they took all my belongings including tweezers. I don't have any of my belongings right now."
Üstek said that he was threatened by many wardens in the prison he was transferred to and that the prison administration would be responsible for any unfavourable situation that might occur. Üstek stated that the guards told him "No more open visits for you". Üstek also stated that they were frequently sentenced to solitary confinement and held in close cells with ISIS members.
Üstek's wife Nuriye Üstek said, "We are against these tortures. They are already being held for political reasons, on top of that they are being subjected to torture". Nuriye Üstek called on human rights organizations to be sensitive to the issue.
