ANKARA- Hakan İsmail Hikmet, who murdered academician Ceren Damar Şenel, was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. With the announcement of the decision, the audience called out to the accused, "Here you are the killer".
The hearing of the trial opened against Hakan İsmail Hikmet, who murdered Çankaya University Faculty of Law Research Assistant Ceren Damar Şenel, was held at the 33rd High Criminal Court.
The court committee sentenced the defendant Hikmet to life imprisonment, which was aggravated for the crimes of "murder by monstrous feeling or torture" and "planned murder of a person because of their public duty." The court did not apply a discretionary discount in his sentence.
After the decision, the attendees could not hold their tears. "Here you are the killer" the audience called out to the accused after the decision was announced.
The audience shouted "Women murders are political" slogans getting out of the court room.
