İSTANBUL - Naide Çamak, stating that they removed the headstone of his brother Zamani Çamak so that the soldiers did not destroy it, said: "Attacking gravestones does not have any legal, humanitarian or moral explanation. It is torture."

In the Kurdish cities, military and police intervention against the gravestones of those who lost their lives in clashes with the law enforcement continues. One of the families pressured to remove the headstone of their son is Çamak family. Çamak family was asked to remove the headstone of HDP member Zamani Çamak (Xebatkar Karker) who died during the curfews on April 19, in Bingöl, Karlıove police station.

Çamak's sister Naibe Çamak defining the situation as an 'attack against the values of the Kurds', told what they've been through.

Stating that their brother had a personality who could not stand injustice, Çamak said he joined the PKK for it and died during the curfews in Nusaybin. Explaining about the time when they waited for the DNS result of his brother, Çamak said: "My mother wished it was Xebatkar and said 'If he's not him, then some other family will suffer a great pain'; and my father said he would claim the body no matter if he is not Xebatkar and give him a proper burial like he is his own son. When finally after 20 days, we learned that he was my brother. We buried him in our family graveyard where no one else then my mother's uncle rests."

Stating that his father got a call on April 18 from the Karlıova Police Station, Çamak said: "They asked my father where he was and told him that they will come see him. However they did not wait for my father's return from Mersin and went to the village on April 20 with the village headman and demanded that the headstone to be removed. They also demanded a photo of the grave after the headstone was removed."

Çamak, stating that his father had the headstone removed so that the soldiers did not harm it, said his father was hurt so bad, asking how can a person do something like that. Çamak said: "These people are struggling with a mentality that can not even stand a headstone. They are very wrong if they think we will submit to these kind of attacks. These attacks only makes us stronger."
