RIHA - DEM Party Party Assembly member Muhammed Ayten was released at the first hearing.

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Party Assembly (PM) member Muhammed Ayten, who was detained on February 3 through an investigation launched by Antep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and arrested due to "being an illegal organization member", was released at the first hearing.

9 people, including 3 children, were detained on November 27, 2023. The first hearing of the case was held at Urfa 2nd High Criminal Court after the case was merged with the case in Urfa. Ayten's lawyers, DEM Party, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial organization representatives, Lawyers of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Riha Branch and Ayten's relatives attended the hearing.

Ayten’s Kurdish defense translated into Turkish, and she stated that she is on trial due to his duties in the party and demanded his release.

Ayten's lawyer Ahmet Atış said: "The aim was to have DEM Party Assembly members arrested. It is a file prepared with purely political motives. I cannot explain to him why my client is under arrest" and asked for his client's release in consideration of the time he has been under arrest.

The court released Ayten with a ban on leaving the country and a judicial control measure.
