AMED - Stating that the AKP-MHP's statements on the solution of the Kurdish issue and the steps taken by them are contradictory, Amed residents reacts: "Is this how you will solve the Kurdish issue?"

The discussions started by Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli in the context of the Kurdish issue and then AKP Chair and President Tayyip Erdoğan's statements that he and Bahçeli are in agreement continue. While the “solution process” is being talked about on the one hand, on the other hand, the continued appointment of trustees to municipalities and the attacks on North & East Syria by Turkey and affiliated paramilitary groups make the AKP-MHP discourse suspicious in the eyes of Kurds.

We took to the streets in Amed (Diyarbakır), one of the cities where these doubts are expressed the most. Adnan Yalın, one of the citizen, evaluated the discussions on the “solution process” while appointing trustees to municipalities and attacking North & East Syria as “political maneuvering”.  “We too would like to have a solution process, for people to live in peace and happiness. But it seems that the country cannot be governed and people are not happy,” said Yalın.

'THEY WILL NOT GET RESULTS FROM THE ATTACKS'

Siraç Çakır said that the MHP's speeches on the Kurdish issue were made to deceive the Kurds: “Their aim is to get votes from the Kurds and become President. Bahçeli has been the enemy of the Kurds until today. Now they know that their party will fall and that is why they are attempting something like this. They will not get results in the attacks against Rojava. They may appoint trustees to municipalities, they may lay off workers, but they cannot do more than that.”

Hasan Tekin said that the discussions on the solution process is a “policy of deception” and reminded that many political parties in Turkey came to power with similar policies. Pointing out that those who received Kurdish votes forgot about Kurds when they went to the Parliament, Tekin said: “Kurds will not be fooled by them from now on. Kurds must be united against these policies.”

Resul Bedevi, who stated that the government has ruined Turkey, emphasized that the discussions on the Kurdish issue are lies, “Erdoğan has been lying since the day he came to power and he is the enemy of the Kurds,” he said.

Finding the statements of the government and its partner on the Kurdish issue unconvincing, Cihat Aluç stated that the Kurdish issue must be solved as soon as possible.

KURDISH-TURKISH ALLIANCE

Gülabi Aslan reminded Turkey's attacks on Rojava with paramilitary forces and said: “On the one hand they say they will release Apo, on the other hand they continue to attack Kurds. Is this how they will solve the Kurdish issue?”

Emphasizing that he does not believe the statements made on the Kurdish issue, Reşat Aslan said: “Nothing they said until today was true. They have not fulfilled anything they said.”

Stating that the Kurdish issue must be solved and peace must be ensured, “While the solution discussions are going on on the one hand, the attacks they continue on the other hand are not right. I wish there was peace. Kurdish and Turkish rights are brothers,” said Fesih Demirhan.
