RIHA - 65-year-old Nura Kurt, who died in Germany, was buried in Wêranşar by 5 people without religious rituals under a military blockade.

Nura Kurt (65), who died on 4 December due to kidney failure in Germany where she went for trearment from Maxmur, was buried under military blockade in Herwanî rural neighbourhood of Wêranşar (Viranşehir) district of Riha (Urfa). Nura Kurt's body arrived in Amed (Diyarbakır) in the morning and then was brought to Wêranşar. As soon as the body was brought to Wêranşar, the soldiers pressured the family to bury it immediately without any mass. The soldiers did not allow the burial ceremony for Nura Kurt. The body was buried at 07.30 in the morning with the participation of 5 members of the family without fulfilling religious rituals. Hundreds of soldiers blockaded the cemetery and the area was recorded by drones.
 
The police prevented the condolence service for Nura Kurt at the condolence house in Şirnak neighbourhood of Wêranşar center. The family members went to the condolence house after the burial and were prevented from entering the condolence house by the police. The police blockaded the condolence house and told the family that they were not allowed to have a condolence service without giving any reason. Upon this, the family wanted to hold their own house with the belongings they had taken with them for the condolence. The police pressurised the family not to hold the condolence in their own house and threatened them that they would prevent people from attanding the condolence. 
 
WHO IS NURA KURT?
 
Nura Kurt, who lost her life, joined the PKK in 2007 with her two daughters. Nura Kurt settled in Maxmûr two years later due to health problems and travelled to Germany for treatment in 2014. After 10 years of treatment for kidney failure, Nura Kurt died on 4 December.
