ŞIRNEX - A military tower was built in Botan Valley, which is visited by thousands of people every spring season with its natural beauties.

On 24 June 2024, Şırnak Governorate held a tender for two separate glass terraces of 365 square metres each in Botan Vallye and Cehennem Deresi (Hell Stream), one of the biggest vallyes of Kurdistan located between Cizîr (Cizre), Hezex (Idil) and Basa (Güçlükonak) districts of Şırnak. While the glass terrace is nearing the stage of completion despite the reaction of the villagers, a military tower was built in the same area. The tower overlooks the Tigris River, Botan Valley, Bafê Castle and Elo Dîno Pavilion from above. The tower also spoils the natural beauty and aesthetics of the area.

VILLAGERS ARE DISTURBED

Villagers who used to graze their animals freely in the area are worried about the tower. Citizens stated that the tower also makes visitors to the region go through General Information Collection (GBT), which causes discomfort.

The Botan Valley is home to the Elo Dîno Pavilion, which was built in the 16th century, Bafê Castle, water cisterns and caves.
